University of Leeds. It contains a wealth of UK links. Links come
with a text description in a format much like this page.
Police Review Magazine
This site provides information on police issues from the United Kingdom,
as well as international information. The site is well presented, but a
bit graphics intensive.
The English
Magistrate
A description of the nature and role of the Magistracy in England and
Wales. This site is mostly text based with a good download time. A very
good introduction.
Merseyside Police
Metropolitan Police
Scotland Yard on the web. This is a monster site full of good
information. The site is very graphics intensive, but has a fast download
rate.
Greater Manchester Police
This site is small, but well presented. Community partnership is the
driving force behind this department, and one can get a good idea of what
community policing means across the pond. Also, a good organizational flow
chart serves as an excellent tool for understanding how English police
departments are organized.

Sites
This is an alphabetical listing of UK government bodies on the
internet.
West Yorkshire Police
This site is mostly departmental information along with information on
crime prevention.
West Mercia Police
A good bit of departmental information where community partnership is
playing a big role. The site is graphics intensive and uses frames. Some
good special unit information.
North Wales Police
A good bit of departmental information along with some historical
notes. The site downloads slowly, but is well designed.

Wales
"The Police Federation of England and Wales is the representative body
to which every police officer below the rank of Superintendent belongs. It
was established by the Police Act 1919 to provide the police with a means

government and the police authorities." Some good information with a
not-so-good design.

Roman Law Resource
This site provides information on Roman law sources and literature,
the teaching of Roman law, and the persons who engage in the study of
Roman law. Text based site downloads quickly. Some rare items handy in
legal research.
Legal Aid in the United Kingdom
This site contains a wealth of information on the legal aid system in
England and Wales.
The Official Solicitor of the
Supreme Court
"Mostly the Official Solicitor acts for children and young people
under the age of 18, or for people who, because of mental disorder, cannot
properly manage their own affairs. He usually becomes formally involved
when appointed by the Court, and he may act as his own solicitor, or
instruct a private firm of solicitors to act for him." A well designed
site with lots of good information about this post.

This site is the home of the official publisher of acts of
parliament. This is a virtual store where materials can be purchased.
The UK parliamentary Site
Lots of good information on Parliament and forthcoming legislation.
Good background information on both houses of this law making body.
Penal Lexicon
This resource has gone the way of a subscription service. Prior to
this, it was a very informative site. Current details are not know.
